About us

How we started

The “Life Without Fear” Foundation was established in 2017 when its founder (Siófok businessman Zoltán Horváth) came face-to-face with the hopeless, vulnerable situation of children in a war zone community where their anxiety affected them for the rest of their life. He felt he had to do something.

Witnessing the miserable conditions the children in the area had to play in, Horváth was struck with the idea: with the support of those around him, he arranged for the construction of a modern playground for the community. The effect of seeing this idea put into action exceeded all prior expectations. Beyond being happy for the gift, the children gained a feeling that others were paying attention to them, taking care of them.

The world outside is not made up exclusively of aggressors and victims, but is a helpful, cooperative community that leads the way to a happy, well-adjusted adulthood. Happy, laughing children, grateful eyes, and a faith in the future alike filled the playground. The effect on adults, too, was positive as they saw how quickly their children forgot their oppressive environment and lost themselves in all-consuming play.

The initiative garnered considerable attention both at home and abroad

The unusual, but eminently beneficial initiative was reported in Hungary in both the on-line and conventional press, and on several occasions was introduced to a wider public via public news programmes or interview shows. From the success of seeing so many people coming together for a good cause, the idea to create a Foundation came almost naturally.

One good example can become an institution, others can be helped...

Our stated mission

To take responsibility at the domestic and international levels for groups and individuals living in disadvantaged situations as a result of circumstances beyond their control.

To help people threatened by natural disaster or social conflict (terrorist action, war, civil unrest, etc.), whether socially or existentially, in collaboration with other aid organisations. To foster conditions conducive to the mental and physical development of children in crisis situations.

Putting our project into immediate action, we have begun sponsoring autumn camp programs for disadvantaged Hungarian children at Lake Balaton, with the aim of demonstrating that there is a way out of even the most difficult of situations, and that hard work and ambition will be met with encouragement and support.
